FAQs

  • A thermal baths experience at Klā Sanctuary involves alternating between hot, cold, and warm temperature baths, as well as other thermal amenities. This process helps awaken the senses and encourages connection to the present moment while also offering many therapeutic benefits.

  • Convenient parking is available under the I-670 viaduct on Hickory St south of our building as well as neighboring street parking. If you have any special accessibility needs, please don’t hesitate to reach out—we’re happy to assist you!

Enter both Klā and Selah on the East side of the building through the double doors. We are across the street from Chef J’s BBQ and The Beast.

  • At Klā Sanctuary and Selah Lounge, we believe in cultivating ecosystems of care—not just for our guests, but for our team as well. Part of that commitment is reflected in our 20% staff support fee model, which allows us to create a more sustainable and equitable workplace for our staff.

Unlike traditional fee structures, 100% of the staff support fee goes directly to our staff. It does not fund building maintenance, corporate overhead, or unrelated expenses. Instead, it acts as a revenue share—a dedicated portion of every service that is intentionally set aside to support the people who bring Klā and Selah to life.

This 20% Staff Support Fee is added to all offerings at check out and there is no expectation for any additional tips.

To learn more about our intention behind this model please check out our “What We Value” page.

  • In order to protect the privacy of each individual visiting our sanctuary, as well as to support the intention of connecting to the present moment, phones and photography are not permitted.

We understand that taking space from technology can feel intimidating at times, but we are not able to make exceptions to this request. Emergencies happen, and if you need to access your phone during your time with us, you are welcome to keep it in your locker and return to it as needed, keeping it secure with your belongings.

When developing the values and journey of our experience at Klā, our intention was to disconnect from technology altogether. We realized this is extremely difficult in today’s world, and although that has always been our hope, we have chosen to use technology in the most minimally invasive way possible—through our booking system, website, and social media. In-person engagement is our priority, and we will continue to emphasize this type of connection in order to remain as present and available to what is happening in our immediate environment as best we can.

Thank you for your understanding and for the part you play in creating a special and intentional experience for all involved.

  • An hour long Spa Sanctuary Pass is included with all treatment purchases (except our Early Bird offerings), but guests are welcome to enjoy it at their own discretion, whether they explore the sanctuary or simply come for their treatment. The Spa Sanctuary can also be experienced on its own through our Spa Sanctuary Pass, without booking a treatment.

We do offer our 50 minute Early Bird Treatment which does not include Spa Sanctuary access. This can be booked as an individual treatment or a couples experience and is only available at 9am. Check it out on our “Treatment Menu”.

  • Missouri health regulations require all public pools and baths to stay at a minimum temperature of 70°F. While our system is designed for a 50°F plunge, we honor this guideline and have grown to enjoy a gentler approach.

Our Cold Bath offers a refreshing reset—stimulating circulation, supporting the nervous system, and awakening the senses with a gentle, invigorating chill that delivers the benefits of contrast without overwhelming one’s system.

  • Our locker room provides a practical space to prepare before and after your experience, while its shared design encourages togetherness and minimizes separation when visiting with another person. Each guest has a personal locker to secure belongings, with private changing and shower rooms available for transitioning into swimwear or everyday clothes, as the space itself is not intended for changing. Our adjoining powder room offers complimentary essentials and swimsuit dryers to support a smooth transition after your visit.

  • Yes! We offer full facility bookings for special events or groups larger than 6.

We limit group bookings to 6 individuals in order to preserve the quiet communal intention of the sanctuary. Our hope is that all guests are able to explore the sanctuary in privacy and that their experience is not being overpowered by the tone set by a larger group in the space. We appreciate your understanding as we make efforts to protect the guest experience the best way we can.

Call us today if you are interested in booking our Spa Sanctuary privately at (816)849-6167!

  • Yes, visitors must wear a swimsuit at all times in our facility, with the exception of our private changing rooms and showers. If you have forgotten yours, don’t worry, we have swimwear options for purchase to make sure your visit is not disrupted.

  • Ideal for relieving stress, reducing joint pressure, easing achy muscles, and soothing irritated skin, an epsom salt and magnesium bath provides numerous therapeutic benefits that support the body’s natural process of recovery and repair, while also encouraging a gentle sense of buoyancy and deep relaxation.

This bath is not the same as a sensory deprivation chamber and although there can be an experience of weightlessness and buoyancy it will not be as extreme as what one would experience in a float tank.

  • As you enter into our main entrance vestibule, the Klā entrance will be to your right, and the Selah entrance will be to your left. Selah is open to the general public, while also serving various tea and beverages at Klā.

All other holidays we will be open unless otherwise noted.

Selah Lounge is open 8:30am-6:30pm daily.

  • Due to the effects of thermal experiences on the body's internal temperature, we advise against the full use of our spa sanctuary amenities during pregnancy. While extreme heat or cold may be less accessible to pregnant individuals, our Spa Sanctuary holds additional experiences that are pregnancy safe (for ex: our warm bath, mineral bath, and salt exfoliation altar). We also provide options for specialized prenatal treatments and are delighted to support you with these thoughtful offerings.

  • Our baths are salt based to provide the best experience for skin and hair, while reducing the use of chlorine. We also have an additional UV filtration system connected to each of our baths.
